TheAerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) is atrade association for theaerospace,defence andsecurity industries in Europe. According to the organisation, it represents over 3,000 companies in 17 countries.
The organisation was formed in 2004 through the merger of the Association of European Space Industry (Eurospace), European Association of Aerospace Industries (AECMA) and European Defence Industries Group (EDIG).[1][2]
The organisation serves as alobbying group andpolicy advocate for the industry within theEuropean Union establishment,[3] in particular theEuropean Defence Agency, theEuropean Union Aviation Safety Agency, as well as theEuropean Union Agency for the Space Programme.[4]
The organisation is responsible for maintaining theASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English (STE) standards for aerospacetechnical documentation.
