Aiantis (Ancient Greek:Αἰαντίς) was aphyle of ancientAttica with sixdemes:[1]Aphidna,Marathon,Oenoe,Rhamnous,Tricorythus andPhalerum.[2] It was named in honour ofAjax the Great.

Marathon is located within the boundaries of this place.[3]

It is attested byPlutarch that fifty-two members of the tribe of Aiantis died from wounds sustained in theBattle of Plataea.[4]

The playwrightAeschylus came from deme Eleusis in Aiantis.[5] His family wereeupatrids.[6]
