In India, anadvocate general is a legal advisor to astate government.[1] The post was created by theConstitution of India (vide Article 165) and corresponds to that ofAttorney General for India at the union government level. Thegovernor of each state shall appoint a person who is qualified to be appointed as judge of theHigh Court as the advocate general.
