Captain James Morgan and Dr. Peter Brooks on a cruise liner have to deal with various crises, including a hidden bomb, a suicide attempt and J. L. Dundeen, a millionaire.
It was the first of three moviesIrwin Allen did for TV in the wake of the success ofThe Towering Inferno, the others beingThe Swiss Family Robinson andTime Travelers. Each was made through20th Century Fox for $1 million but was done for different networks. They were all done as pilots for potential TV series.[1]
"I missed television," said Allen. "There's a hysteria and an excitement in television that exists nowhere else in business."[1] Allen called the film "Son ofPoseidon Adventure."[1] It was mostly shot on theQueen Mary inLong Beach.[2]
