Notes

  1. ^English translated sources and Lima herself states she has "Indian" ancestry. The ambiguous meaning of the word "Indian" in English, which can refer to either the indigenous peoples of the Americas or people native to the country of India, has led some to misinterpret her Amerindian ancestry, claiming that Lima's "Indian" background refers to the country of India. However, in English slang, "Indian" is meant to refer to indigenous peoples of the Americas. In Portuguese, such ambiguity is nonexistent, since there are two words to convey the different meanings:índio for anAmerican Indian (orAmerindian, including Native Brazilians); andindiano for people and things related to India.[17][18]
