Adlivun Cavus is a small depression on the southern tip ofSputnik Planitia, which is a basin on thedwarf planetPluto. It was discovered by theNew Horizons spacecraft in 2015.
The name is from theInuktitutadlivun, "those beneath us", referring to the souls of the departed and by extension to the underworld itself.[2] The name was officially approved by theInternational Astronomical Union in 2017.[1]
