Adam Fenton (born 8 February 1972), also known asAdam F, is an English record producer and DJ who has worked across various genres. He is also the co-founder of the drum and bass labelBreakbeat Kaos along withDJ Fresh.[1] He found initial success with the 1990sdrum and bass singles "Circles", "Metropolis" / "Mother Earth", and "F-Jam", before releasing his debut studio albumColours in 1997. In 2001, he transitioned intohip hop music, producing the albumKaos: The Anti-Acoustic Warfare, featuring collaborations withLL Cool J,Redman andDe La Soul.[1] He later released a remix album,Drum and Bass Warfare, and collaborated with DJ Fresh.
Adam began his career with his early release, thetechstep 12", "Metropolis" / "Mother Earth", released in 1996 on theMetalheadz record label. His other early successes were the tracks "F-Jam" and "Circles" (the latter breaking into theTop 20 in theUK Singles Chart).[2][3] In 1998 he won aMOBO award for his debut album,Colours.[4]
In 2001, he found success in the field ofhip hop, primarily withKaos: The Anti-Acoustic Warfare, working alongside artists such asLL Cool J,Redman andDe La Soul. In 2002, Adam created the score for the feature filmAli G Indahouse starringSacha Baron Cohen forWorking Title Films.[5]
He is founder and co-owner of the UKindependent record labelBreakbeat Kaos, which releasedPendulum's albumHold Your Colour; he is also co-owner of the drum and bass websiteDogs on Acid.[6]
In early 2007 he was cast in his first film role, the crime thrillerThe Heavy. In December 2007, Adam also co-starred inCuckoo, a thriller about sound and lies, co-starringRichard E. Grant andLaura Fraser, directed byRichard Bracewell.[7]
2009 saw Adam back in the studio, this time with Horx to remixThe Prodigy's "Take Me to the Hospital" from their albumInvaders Must Die. Months later, Adam collaborated with Horx again to release "Shut The Lights Off" withRedman. Adam F andDJ Fresh's 2010 collaboration single under the artist name WTF?! was next, built aroundDead Prez's "Hip Hop". Over the past few years Adam has remixedDavid Guetta,Rihanna,Afrojack,Missy Elliott,Sander van Doorn andScrufizzer.
Returning to the studio in recent years, Adam's "In The Air" collaboration with Sonic C was released as a free download and supported byAnnie Mac,MistaJam,Zinc,A-Trak andZeds Dead. It set the scene for "When The Rain Is Gone", Adam's first official single release under his own name for some time. The single was released in 2012 on 3Beat.[8]
Adam later released his Elements EP onBreakbeat Kaos. It included the tracks "Elements", "When The Rain Is Gone", "In The Air", "It's Bigger Than Hip Hop UK" and his remixes ofAfrojack's "Take Over Control" andSander van Doorn's "Nothing Inside".
Adam's most recent output was in the form of "See You Again", a collaboration withDJ Fresh featuring Michael Warren which was on Fresh's albumNextlevelism. He has also recently collaborated with British electronic music producerDoctor P andMethod Man, who is also known forhis collaborations with Redman, to produce the late-2013 track "The Pit".
Adam comes from a musical family. He is the son of singer and actorAlvin Stardust[9] and the nephew ofRory Storm, whose bandRory Storm and the Hurricanes once includedRingo Starr before he joinedthe Beatles.[10]
He is married toKirsty Hawkshaw, member of groupOpus III.
Storm was friends withBill Shankly, which played a part in Adam becoming a lifelongLiverpool F.C. fan.[10]
