Adam Doukas (Greek:Αδάμ Δούκας, 1790-1860) was aGreek revolutionary and politician.

Doukas was born in 1790 inPermet,[citation needed] thenOttoman Empire, now in southernAlbania. He then moved toIoannina[citation needed] where he attended the localMaroutsaia School.[citation needed] At the time of the outbreak of theGreek War of Independence (1821) he lived inLivadeia inCentral Greece.[1] He became one of the most important political leaders of the Greek Revolution in Eastern Central Greece andEuboea. Doukas was politically attached toIoannis Kolettis and hisFrench Party. Doukas was also in close contact with the most important local military figures of the War of Independence.[2][3] He participated in theFirst National Assembly at Epidaurus (1821–1822) as a representative ofThebes, as well as in theFourth National Assembly at Argos.[4] In 1825 he becameMinister of War in the revolutionary government of Greece.[4] He latter participated in the liberation of Euboea by the Greek forces and was in charge of the surrender committee of the Ottoman garrison inKarystos, southern Euboea, in April 1833.[4]

After the end of the successful national struggle Doukas became member various state cabinets from 1850 to 1860, during the reign of KingOtto. He died in Euboea in 1860.[4]
