Adam R. Dell (born January 14, 1970) is an Americanventure capitalist and is the brother ofMichael Dell, the founder of computer manufacturing companyDell Inc.[1]
Dell was born inHouston, Texas, to a German-Jewish family.[2] He attendedTulane University and theUniversity of Texas School of Law.[3] His elder brotherMichael Dell is the founder of theDell technology company.
In 2010, he became father to a daughter with model and actressPadma Lakshmi.[4]
He began his career working as acorporate attorney for Winstead Sechrest & Minick, inAustin, Texas, before joining the venture capital firm of Enterprise Partners inLa Jolla, California.[5] He then joined Crosspoint Venture Partners, inWoodside, California, where he became a partner in 1999.[6] In 2000 he formed Impact Venture Partners, a $100mm early stage venture capital firm, inNew York City.[6][7] Dell joinedAustin Ventures as a venture partner in 2009. Dell joinedGoldman Sachs as a partner in 2018.
During the course of his career, Dell invested in numeroustechnology companies such asHotjobs.com, which was acquired byYahoo! in 2002; Ingenio, which was acquired byAT&T in 2007; andOpenTable.[8][9][10]
Dell founded six companies, Clarity Money, which was acquired by Goldman Sachs in 2018; Civitas Learning; Buzzsaw.com, which was acquired byAutoDesk in 2002; and MessageOne,[11] which was acquired byDell, Inc. in 2008[12] and Domain Money, a financial advisory business. Dell was an adjunct professor at both the Business School atColumbia University and theUniversity of Texas School of Law.[citation needed]
