Aceso orAkeso (Ancient Greek:Ἀκεσώ,romanizedAkesó,lit.'healing one'[1]) was theGreek goddess of well-being and the healing process worshipped inAthens andEpidauros.[2]

Family

[edit]

Aceso was the daughter ofAsclepius andEpione, sister ofIaso,Hygieia,Panacea, andAegle.[3]

Mythology

[edit]
Aceso depicted with her father, Asclepios, and her siblings

Unlike her sister Panacea (Cure-All), she represented the process of curing rather than the cure itself.[4] Her male counterpart was Acesis (Akesis).[5] In Greek sculptural reliefs, Aceso appears alongside her father Asclepius and sisters Hygeia, Panacea, Aegle, and Iaso.
