Name attributed to several characters in Greek mythology
Acamas orAkamas (/ɑː ˈ k ɑː m ɑː s / ;Ancient Greek : Ἀκάμας,folk etymology : 'unwearying'[ 1] ) was a name attributed to several characters inGreek mythology . The following three all fought in theTrojan War , and only the first was not mentioned byHomer .
Acamas , son ofTheseus , mentioned byVirgil as being in theTrojan horse .[ 2] Acamas , son ofAntenor , fought on the side of theTrojans and killed one Greek.[ 3] Acamas, son ofEussorus , fromThrace ,[ 4] and thus, could be the brother ofAenete [ 5] andCyzicus .[ 6] With his comradePeiros , son ofImbrasus , Acamas led a contingent ofThracian warriors to theTrojan War .[ 7] Acamas was killed byAjax [ 8] or byIdomeneus who thrust him out of his chariot and caught him, as he fell, on the tip of his spear.[ 9] Others:
