Abigail "Aby"Palmares Maraño (born December 22, 1992) is a Filipino professional volleyball player who plays for theChery Tiggo EV Crossovers in thePremier Volleyball League.

Early life and education

Maraño was born on December 22, 1992,[1] and is 175 cm tall. She took up Bachelor of Arts in Philippine Studies major in Filipino in Mass Media atDe La Salle University.[2] She originates fromPassi, Iloilo.[3]

Career

Maraño was a two-timeUAAP Most Valuable Player, having won the award in theUAAP Season 74[4] andSeason 75[5] and former team captain (2012-2014) of theDe La Salle University Lady Spikers. She began her commercial league career in the PSL, where she was selected as the second overall draft pick for the2014 season for theAirAsia Flying Spikers.[6]She played with Don Antonio de Zuzuarregui Sr Memorial Academy[7] andDe La Salle University Lady Spikers from (2009-2014). In 2014 she was the top drafted byAirAsia Flying Spikers[8] from thePhilippine Super Liga.[9] Shen then played with theShakey's V-League clubMeralco Power Spikers.[10]She played in the2015Philippine Super Liga season withPetron Blaze Spikers.[11] In 2016 she played withFoton Tornadoes as a guest player during the2016 Asian Club Championship.[12]

WithF2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Maraño won the2017 PSL Grand Prix Conference championship.[13]

After eight years, Maraño retired as the Philippine Women's Volleyball National Team's team captain and middle blocker in 2023 to focus on being the team captain and middle blocker/hitter for theF2 Logistics Cargo Movers.[14] After the team was disbanded, Maraño joined theChery Tiggo Crossovers in 2024.[15]

Personal life

Maraño was previously in a relationship withPhilippine Basketball Association playerRobert Bolick from 2013 to 2021.[16] She is currently in a relationship withNxled Chameleons volleyball player Kamille Cal.[17]
