Abu Theeb is thepseudonym of a leader of aSunni group taking part in theIraqi insurgency, operating north ofBaghdad.

During the time of the referendum ajournalist fromThe Guardian spent five days with his group, and wrote a report in 2005.

Personal life

According toThe Guardian, Abu Theeb was born ~40 years ago at the time of interview and had a brother who was killed duringIran–Iraq War. He studiedlaw inUniversity of Baghdad before joiningIraqi National Security Council.
