Geography

It is on the east coast of theCape York Peninsula and consists of a single locality,Lockhart River (which is shared with theShire of Cook). It includes a number of islands off the east coast:Chapman Island,Lloyd Island,Rocky Island,Sherrard Island andSunter Island.[4]

In the2016 census, the Aboriginal Shire of Lockhart River had a population of 712 people.[5]

In the2021 census, the Aboriginal Shire of Lockhart River had a population of 640 people.[1]
