Aberoer orAber-oer[1] (Welsh:[abɛrˈɔɨr]ⓘ) is a scattered settlement inWrexham County Borough,Wales; prior to 1974 it was inDenbighshire. It is part of thecommunity area ofEsclusham, and is situated on the rural slopes ofEsclusham Mountain aboveRhostyllen. The placename can be translated from theWelsh language as "[the] cold stream".
There was once a small colliery at Aberoer, working some of the lowest coals in the MiddleCoal Measures, though few records remain of it.[2]
