Aberangell (Welsh pronunciationⓘ) is a village inGwynedd, Wales.
Aberangell stands at theconfluence of theAfon Angell and theAfon Dyfi, and lies withinDinas Mawddwycommunity. On the north side of the village, the long ridge ofPen y Clipau runs down from the summit ofFoel Dinas. TheAfon Mynach joins the Afon Angell just west of the village with the rounded slopes ofMoel y Ffridd beyond.
During theVictorian era, three majorestates dominated the village and its surrounding area. To the north laySir Edmund Buckley's Dinas Mawddwy estate; to the south and east was Dolcorsllwyn Hall, owned by Sir Thomas Frost. To the west layPlas Cwmllecoediog, owned byJames Walton and his sons William andFrederick.[1]
Aberangell railway station was on theMawddwy Railway. It was also the terminus of thenarrow gaugeHendre-Ddu Tramway.
Royal Mail announced the closure of Aberangellpost office in October 2008.[2]In 1993 and 2008 Aberangell wonCalor Village of the Year in Wales.
