Abdul Karim was a politician, originally fromMymensingh District,Bengal Presidency, British India (present-dayDewanganj Upazila,Jamalpur District, Bangladesh) and was the brother of Abdur Rahim, first elected mayor ofJamalpur.[1] Karim was member of theBengal Legislative Assembly.[2] In 1947, he was appointed Deputy Speaker[1] and in 1948, he was elected as the Speaker of theEast Bengal Legislative Assembly.[3]
