Abdolvahed Mousavi LariPersian:عبدالواحد موسوی لاری (pronunciationⓘ[needs IPA]; born 1954) is an IranianShia cleric andreformist politician. He was theinterior minister during the presidency ofMohammad Khatami.
Mousavi Lari was born inMohr, Fars in 1954.[citation needed]
In August 1997, whenMohammad Khatami was elected president of Iran, Lari was appointed vice president for legal and parliamentary affairs.[1] However, following the impeachment ofAbdollah Nouri bythe Parliament, he was nominated by Khatami as minister of interior and the Parliament voted to him. He was in office until 2005 whenMahmoud Ahmadinejad became president and nominatedMostafa Pour-Mohammadi as interior minister.
Lari is a leading member ofthe Association of Combatant Clerics party.[2]
