Ancient Greek town on coast of Asia Minor

Abarnis (Ancient Greek:Ἀβαρνίς),[1] also known asAbarnias,Abarnos (Ἄβαρνος),[2][3] andAparnis (Ancient Greek:Ἀπαρνίς)[4] was a coastal town inancient Mysia, on a promontory of the same name.Xenophon speaks of the place as whereConon, during his engagements withLysander, stole the sails of the Spartan fleet, reorganized his fleet and fled to refuge withEvagoras I, while dispatching theParalus toAthens to bring news from the battles.[5]

Its site is tentatively located nearÇardak,Asiatic Turkey.[3][6]
