A Flickering Truth is a 2015 New Zealanddocumentary film written and directed byPietra Brettkelly. It follows the attempts by Ibrahim Arify to restore theAfghan Film archives in Kabul following theTaliban capture of the city. It world premiered in the Venice Classics section at the72nd edition of theVenice Film Festival.[2][3] It was selected as the New Zealand entry for theBest Foreign Language Film at the89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated.[4][5]
The movie received the Cercle D'or award for Best Documentary in the International competition at the Festival Cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke.[6]
