Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Biellese 1902 is anItalian football club, based inBiella,Piedmont that currently plays inSerie D.

History

Early years

The historic club was founded in 1902 asU.S. Biellese. It had its best results in the 1920s, when it won theSecond Division achieving theNational Division, theSerie A's forerunner of that period. In 1930 the club changed its name toA.S. Biellese. Refounded in 1945 following the end ofWorld War II, they resumed fromSerie B, being however relegated immediately toSerie C. The club played in the minor leagues of Italian football ever since.

In the summer 1993 the provincial club ofF.C. Vigliano, just promoted inEccellenza Piemonte, changes its name toF.C.V. Biellese-Vigliano which becomesBiellese F.C. in 1997, for regainingA.S. Biellese 1902 only in 2001.

A.S. Biellese 1902 finished 17th in Girone A ofSerie C2 2006-07 and was forced to play in the relegation playoffs, where it lost 3–2 on aggregate to 14th-placedLumezzane, and was relegated toSerie D.

In theSerie D 2007–08 season, the team played in Girone A where it placed a distant second toAlessandria. However, the team did participate in the Serie D playoffs but failed to qualify for the group stage of the tournament.

In theSerie D 2008–09 season, Biellese was placed first in Girone A and has won direct promotion toLega Pro Seconda Divisione, but has decided to self-relegate toEccellenza classifying in the season 2009–10, 11th.

In July 2010 the club was disbanded.

A.S.D. Junior Biellese Libertas

In summer 2010, two minor local clubs:

have decided to merge, for take the place of the oldA.S. Biellese 1902, to formA.S.D. Junior Biellese Libertas.[1]

It in the season 2010–11, it has maintained the same league of theA.S.D. Libertas Biella Cossato and has played so always inPromozione Piemonte group A who has won and thus was promoted toEccellenza Piedmont and Aosta Valley.[2]

Colors and badge

The team's colors are black and white. The away colors are usually red and white.[3]
