AMX Mouse was a 1985computer mouse sold by the British company Advanced Memory Systems.[1] The mouse has 3 buttons. It was sold with a dedicated interface, and usually with some accompanying software such asAMX Art (MacPaint clone),AMX Pagemaker,AMX Palette,AMX Control andIcon Designer.[2]

The AMX Mouse product was sold for theZX Spectrum,Amstrad CPC andBBC Micro computers,[3][4] along with theAcorn Electron (through Advanced Computer Products),[5][6] these being popularhome computers at the time. As such, it allowed modern user interfaces to be present in common household machines.

It was compatible with art software such asOCP Advanced Art Studio[7] or Max Desktop.[8] The gameStarglider is also listed as being compatible.[9]

  • AMX 3D Zicon which took 3Dvector drawings and converted them to AMX Art format. Also allowed sketching in 2D and converting to 3D;
  • AMX Database which was adatabase with agraphical user interface;
  • AMX XAM which createdmultiple choice exams with pictures from AMX Art;
  • AMX Paintpot which coloured pictures produced with AMX Art.
