8-Cyclopentyl-1,3-dimethylxanthine (8-Cyclopentyltheophylline,8-CPT,CPX) is adrug which acts as apotent andselectiveantagonist for theadenosine receptors, with some selectivity for theA1receptor subtype, as well as a non-selectivephosphodiesterase inhibitor. It hasstimulant effects in animals with slightly higher potency thancaffeine.[1][2]
