714 Ulula is amain beltasteroid. It is orbiting theSun near the 3:1Kirkwood Gap[4] with aperiod of 4.04 years and aneccentricity of 0.057. It was discovered by German astronomerJ. Helffrich on 18 May 1911 from theHeidelberg Observatory and was named after an order of owls.[5] The asteroid has amean radius of 20 km and is spinning with arotation period of seven hours. Itspole of rotation lies just 4–14° away from theplane of the ecliptic.[6] The surface spectrum shows apyroxene chemistry and is consistent withmesosiderites/HED meteorites.[4]
