The58th Annual Tony Awards were held June 6, 2004 atRadio City Music Hall and broadcast onCBS television.Hugh Jackman was the host.

The Awards telecast won the Creative Arts Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, and Jackman won thePrimetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.[2][3]

Wicked had the most nominations of the ceremony with 10, winning 3 of them, tying withAvenue Q, which wonBest Musical, while the revival ofAssassins won the most awards of the night with 5, includingBest Revival of a Musical.

Hugh Jackman performed the opening number, "One Night Only" with the "Dynamites" fromHairspray, the "Radio" fromCaroline, or Change, and the "Urchins" fromLittle Shop of Horrors, along with members of the casts ofAvenue Q,The Boy from Oz,Fiddler on the Roof,Wonderful Town, andWicked, and the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes.[4]Tony Bennett performed "Lullaby of Broadway" andMary J. Blige sang "What I Did for Love" from the Tony Awards Songbook.[5]
