2002 film festival in Berlin, Germany
The52nd annualBerlin International Film Festival was held from February 6 to 17, 2002.[ 2] The festival opened withHeaven byTom Tykwer .[ 3] [ 4] The new print ofCharlie Chaplin 's 1940 American satiricaldramedy filmThe Great Dictator was the closing film of the festival.[ 5]
TheGolden Bear was jointly awarded toBloody Sunday , directed byPaul Greengrass , andSpirited Away , byHayao Miyazaki .[ 6]
The Retrospective section was dedicated to European films from the 1960s.[ 7] Dieter Kosslick became the director of the festival, taking over fromMoritz de Hadeln .[ 8]
