5,6-MDO-DMT, or5,6-methylenedioxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, is a lesser-knownchemical compound of thetryptamine family.[1] It is the 5,6-methylenedioxyderivative ofdimethyltryptamine (DMT) and is ananalogue of5-MeO-DMT.[1] In his 1991 bookTiHKAL (Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved),Alexander Shulgin lists the dose as greater than 5 mgsmoked and theduration as unknown.[1] 5,6-MDO-DMT produced no effects whatsoever at a dose of 5 mg smoked.[1] Higher doses were not assessed.[1] Very little data exists about the pharmacological properties, metabolism, and toxicity of 5,6-MDO-DMT.[1] Itschemical synthesis has been described.[1] 5,6-MDO-DMT was first described in thescientific literature by Toni B. Kline and colleagues in 1982.[2]
