4-HO-MALT, also known as4-hydroxy-N-methyl-N-allyltryptamine or asmaltocin, is atryptaminederivative related to4-HO-DALT (dalocin) which has been sold as adesigner drug, first being detected inSlovenia in 2020.[2][3]

Use and effects

4-HO-MALT was not included nor mentioned inAlexander Shulgin's bookTiHKAL (Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved).[4] However, it has subsequently emerged as a noveldesigner drug.[1] It is said to have a dose of 10 to 40 mgorally, with its effects including mildstimulation andvisual changes.[1]

4-HO-MALT acts as anagonist of theserotonin5-HT2A,5-HT2B, and5-HT2C receptors.[5] It also interacts with otherserotonin receptors. The drug produces thehead-twitch response, a behavioral proxy ofpsychedelic effects, in rodents.[5]

4-HO-MALT was encountered online as a noveldesigner drug in 2018 and 2019.[1][6] Subsequently, it was detected inSlovenia in 2020.[2][3][6]
