3net was an American3D television channel that launched on February 13, 2011.[1] It was a joint venture betweenDiscovery Communications,Sony andIMAX Corporation. The partnership was announced in June 2010,[2] and the channel was previewed publicly at the2011 Consumer Electronics Show.[3]
DirecTV carried the channel exclusively since launch.[1]Nintendo's3DS handheld system frequently provided episodic clips of content from 3net's programs on theirNintendo Video service.[4] On August 12, 2014, 3net ceased broadcasting to all providers and was dropped from the DirecTV channel lineup.[5][6]
The channel had several original shows as well as theatrical films.[7]
Repeats of the 3net seriesAfrican Wild andBuilding the Brand are currently airing on the digital broadcast networkQuest albeit not in 3D.
