383 Janina is aThemistian asteroid, approximately 46 kilometers (29 miles) in diameter.[2] It is spectralB-type and is probably composed of primitivecarbonaceous chondritic material.[3]

It was discovered byAuguste Charlois on 29 January 1894 inNice.[2][4] The reference of the name is unknown, though it is the French name ofIoannina in Greece, as well as a common German woman's name, both of which probably descend fromJohannes.[4]
