It was discovered byAuguste Charlois on March 10 1893 inNice. It was named by the daughter ofFelix Klein at a meeting of theAstronomische Gesellschaft in 1902 held at theGeorg August University of Göttingen, where Klein was a professor. It was named after the University's founder KingGeorge II of Great Britain,Elector of Hanover.[3]
