2MASX J16270254+4328340 (also known asSDSS J162702.56+432833.9 orPGC 3087775) is a pair of old, local universemerging/interacting elliptical galaxies that are located in theconstellation ofHercules about 500 millionlight years away fromEarth. The two galaxies havegravitationally thrown out millions ofstars in long tails. The twogalaxies are heading into their old age wherestar formation starts to stop and thegalaxy starts todie.[2][3]
Thegalaxy has a centralblue region. This central blue region are the result of many youngblue-white stars being formed as a result of thegalactic merging event.[4]
