The26th annualBerlin International Film Festival was held from 25 June to 6 July 1976.[1] TheGolden Bear was awarded toBuffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson directed byRobert Altman.[2]
The Japanese filmIn the Realm of the Senses byNagisa Oshima was confiscated during the Berlinale premiere of the film and banned after a court hearing.[3]Charlie Chaplin's 1957 filmA King in New York was also screened at the festival.[1]
