219 Thusnelda is a typicalS-typeMain beltasteroid. It was discovered byJohann Palisa on September 30, 1880, inPola and was named afterThusnelda, wife ofGermanic warriorArminius.

In 1982, the asteroid was observed usingphotometry from theLa Silla Observatory to generate a compositelight curve. The resulting data showed arotation period of 1.24 days (29.8 h) with a brightness variation of 0.2 inmagnitude.[3]
