Sixth season of the GT2 European Series
The2026 GT2 European Series Powered byPirelli is a planned motor racing championship forGT2 cars and will by the 6th running of theGT2 European Series . It is organised bySRO Motorsports Group . The championship will be contested over ten races at five rounds held at European circuits in support ofGT World Challenge Europe , and theBritish GT Championship atCircuit de Spa-Francorchamps . It is planned to begin in May and end in October.[ 1]
For 2026, the GT2 European Series will reduce the number of rounds from 6 to 5. In contrast to 2025, the series will race at theMonza Circuit for the season opener and at theAlgarve International Circuit to finish the season, which returns to SRO competition.Circuit Ricardo Tormo has also been dropped, but the championship will return toCircuit de Spa-Francorchamps ,Misano World Circuit andCircuit Zandvoort .[ 3]
2026 will introduce a new Silver class and permit Gold and Platinum-rated drivers to compete in the series for the first time.[ 4] The series will also be incorporated into the SRO GT Academy program, where the fastest Silver-rated driver racing aMaserati MC20 GT2 or aMercedes-AMG GT2 will be awarded a full seasonGT World Challenge Europe drive in aMercedes-AMG GT3 .[ 4] Later it was announced that Ginetta would also join the initiative with theirGinetta G56 GT2 .[ 5] In November 2025, the GT2 European Series announced that theNürburgring would no longer host a round in the 2026 championship, reducing the number of rounds from six to five.[ 3] Ligier Automotive also announced that it would seek to enter the GT2 European Series with its newJS2 RS .
