The2025World Athletics Relays (Chinese:2025世界田联接力赛) was held at theGuangdong Olympic Stadium inGuangzhou,China, on 10 and 11 May 2025.[2] It was the 7th edition of the World Athletics Relays and the first time the event was held in China.[3]
The 2025 edition was the first edition to feature a mixed 4 × 100 metres relay.[4]
Initially, Guangzhou was awarded to host the 2023 World Athletics Relays, which would be held on 13 and 14 May 2023.[5] On 31 October 2022, it was announced that the championships would be postponed to 2025 because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[6]
The event served as a qualifying event for the2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, with the top 14 teams in each event (except the mixed 4 × 100 metres) securing qualification to the World Championships.[7][8]

On 10 November 2024,World Athletics announced the qualification system for the championships.[10] The top 16 teams in each event at the2024 Summer Olympic Games qualify for entry to the championships. The host countryChina will enter with one team in each event, regardless of any entry conditions. The remaining teams (up to 32 in total per event) will be determined through the top lists in the qualification period (1 January 2024 to 13 April 2025).
734 athletes from 43 federations are entered to the championships.[11][12][13]
