Establish Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Amendment | ||||
Texas Proposition 14, officially theEstablish Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Amendment, is alegislatively referredconstitutional amendment that will appear on the ballot in theU.S. state ofTexas on November 4, 2025.
The proposition was approved for the ballot by theTexas Legislature as abipartisan effort.[1][2] It passed in theHouse on April 28, 2025 with unanimous support from votingDemocrats and 85.4% support from votingRepublicans. On May 12, 2025, it passed in theSenate with unanimous bipartisan support.[3]
The proposition is similar to one passed by voters in 2007 to establish theCancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.[4] TheAlzheimer's Association supported the legislation.[5]
If approved by voters, the amendment would allocate $3 billion from the budget to the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, which was established in early 2025.[6][7][8]
