Senate District 8 represents a portion ofKings County, which is coextensive with theborough ofBrooklyn inNew York City. The vacancy was caused by the resignation of Democratic senatorSimcha Felder in April 2025. Democratic nomineeSam Sutton defeated Republican and Conservative nominee Nachman Caller by 35 points in a district handily won byDonald Trump in the2024 general election, due in part to the prevalence ofOrthodox Jewish bloc voting.
