The2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix (officially known as theFormula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix 2025) was aFormula One motor race held on November 22, 2025, at theLas Vegas Strip Circuit inParadise,Nevada,United States. It was the twenty-second round of the2025 Formula One World Championship.Lando Norris (McLaren) took pole position for the event, but lost out toMax Verstappen (Red Bull), who took his second win in Las Vegas.George Russell andKimi Antonelli (bothMercedes) – the latter of whom started from seventeenth and carried a five-second penalty – rounded out the podium. Norris initially finished second on track, but he and teammateOscar Piastri were both disqualified for a skid wear infringement.
The event was held at theLas Vegas Strip Circuit inParadise,Nevada, for the third time in the circuit's history, across the weekend of November 20–22.[2] The Grand Prix was the twenty-second round of the2025 Formula One World Championship and the third running of theLas Vegas Grand Prix.[3]
Going into the weekend,Lando Norris led theDrivers' Championship with 390 points, 24 points ahead of his teammateOscar Piastri in second, and 49 points ahead ofMax Verstappen.McLaren, who won theConstructors' Championship at theSingapore Grand Prix, were ahead ofMercedes andRed Bull Racing, who were second and third with 398 and 366 points, respectively.[4]
The drivers and teams were the same as published in the season entry list with two exceptions;[5]Yuki Tsunoda atRed Bull Racing held the seat originally held byLiam Lawson before Lawson was demoted back toRacing Bulls from theJapanese Grand Prix onward,[6] andFranco Colapinto replacedJack Doohan atAlpine from theEmilia Romagna Grand Prix onward on a race-by-race basis.[7]
The Grand Prix markedLando Norris andGeorge Russell's 150th entry. Norris' 150th race start equalledDavid Coulthard for the record for the most starts with the team.[8]
Tyre supplierPirelli brought the C3, C4, and C5 tyre compounds designated hard, medium, and soft, respectively, for teams to use at the event.[9]
Threefree practice sessions were held for the event. The first free practice session was held on November 20, 2025, at 16:30 local time (UTC–8), and was topped byCharles Leclerc (Ferrari) ahead ofAlexander Albon (Williams) andYuki Tsunoda (Red Bull).[1][10] The second free practice session was held on the same day, at 20:00 local time,[1] and was topped byLando Norris (McLaren) ahead ofKimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and Leclerc.[11] A red flag was flown after a loose drain cover was reported around turn 17. Shortly after the session resumed, race control personnel stationed on the track confirmed that the drain cover continued to move, forcing another premature stoppage.[12] The third free practice session was held on November 21, 2025, at 16:30 local time, and was topped byGeorge Russell (Mercedes) followed byMax Verstappen (Red Bull) and Albon.[1]
Qualifying was held on November 21, 2025, at 20:00 local time (UTC−8), and determined the starting grid order for the race.[1]
Heavy rain was observed during theF1 Academy race earlier in the night, so the qualification was held on a wet track; hence the 107% rule was not in effect. Teams utilised both wet compounds, which consisted of the intermediates and the full wet tyre; both were in use throughout the session, but the track began to dry during the third session, so all teams switched to intermediates.[13]
The first session sawAlexander Albon (Williams),Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes),Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber),Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull), andLewis Hamilton (Ferrari) all eliminated from the top-15 shootout.[13] Of note, Albon hit the wall at turn 16 in a similar fashion toFranco Colapinto's qualifying incidentthe previous year,[13] and Hamilton's last-place qualification makes this the first time, disregarding penalties (be it grid drops or engine components) and accidents during the session, that he has qualified last on pure pace, and Ferrari's first last-place qualification since the2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, whereGiancarlo Fisichella qualified twentieth.[14]Carlos Sainz Jr. (Williams) rejoined the track unsafely againstLance Stroll (Aston Martin), for which the Williams driver was summoned to the stewards; he was not penalised with a grid drop.[15]
The second session sawNico Hülkenberg (Sauber), Stroll, who switched to intermediates late into Q2,Esteban Ocon,Oliver Bearman (bothHaas), and Colapinto (Alpine) all eliminated from the top-ten shootout. The session was delayed, and no further major incidents were reported. The third session saw all teams switch to intermediates, as the track began to dry, whereLando Norris (McLaren) took pole position fromMax Verstappen (Red Bull) and Sainz. Championship contenderOscar Piastri was fifth, andCharles Leclerc (Ferrari) qualified in ninth.[13]
