The2025 Asia Cup will be the 17th edition of the men'sAsia Cup cricket tournament. It is scheduled to take place in September 2025.[1] The matches will be played inTwenty20 International format. India are the defending champions.[2]
The tournament will feature 8 teams. The five full members of the Asian Cricket Council;Afghanistan,Bangladesh,India,Pakistan, andSri Lanka automatically qualify for the tournament and they will be joined byHong Kong,Oman and theUnited Arab Emirates, as they finished in the top three in the2024 ACC Men's Premier Cup.
The dates for the tournament were released in July 2024, with India initially hosting the tournament.[3]
The groups and format of the tournament will be different to the previous tournaments, with the 8 teams split into two groups of 4. The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for a single-group Super Four stage. The top two teams in this stage will contest the final for the Asia Cup trophy.[1]
The fivefull members of theAsian Cricket Council qualified automatically for the tournament while the United Arab Emirates joined them after winning the2024 ACC Premier Cup followed by next best two teams Hong Kong and Oman.[4]
