The2024 Virginia Democratic presidential primary took place on March 5, 2024, as part of theDemocratic Party primaries for the2024 presidential election. 118 delegates to theDemocratic National Convention were allocated to presidential candidates.[1] The contest was held onSuper Tuesday alongside primaries in 14 other states andterritories.
Biden won the primary with some opposition from Williamson.[2] Becauseuncommitted was not an option in the primary,Gaza war protest vote movements organizers rallied around Williamson.[3][4]
IncumbentPresidentJoe Biden announced on April 25, 2023, hisbid for a second term. He faced a primary challenge from2020 presidential candidateMarianne Williamson[5][6] and U.S. RepresentativeDean Phillips.
