The2024 San Francisco Giants season was the 142nd season for thefranchise inMajor League Baseball, their 67th year in San Francisco, and their 25th atOracle Park. This was their first season under new managerBob Melvin, after former managerGabe Kapler was fired during the2023 season. They were eliminated from playoff contention for the third consecutive season on September 19. However, they improved upon their 79–83 record from the2023 season. Despite this, the Giants missed the playoffs for the sixth time out of their last seven seasons, and had a losing record for the second consecutive year. This caused the Giants to fire their President of baseball operations,Farhan Zaidi on September 30th. They replaced him with former catcher,Buster Posey.
