Jannik Sinner defeatedGrigor Dimitrov in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the2024 Miami Open.[2] It was his secondATP Masters 1000 title and 13th careerATP Tour title. Sinner became the first Italian singles player, male or female, to win theMiami Open. With the win, Sinner achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 2, being the first Italian player of either gender to do so. Sinner became the first player to reach at least the quarterfinals in his first four appearances at the Miami Open sinceStefan Edberg in1991. Aged 22, Sinner also became the youngest player to reach three Miami finals, after two previous finals in2021 and2023.
Daniil Medvedev was the defending champion,[3] but lost in the semifinals to Sinner in a rematch of the previous year's final, as well as a rematch of the recentAustralian Open final.[4]
Dimitrov became the oldest man to reach the Miami Open final sinceRoger Federer in2019. Reaching his first Miami quarterfinal on his 13th attempt, Dimitrov became the fourth man born in the 1990s to reach the quarterfinals of every Masters event (afterDominic Thiem,Alexander Zverev andStefanos Tsitsipas) and the ninth active man overall to accomplish this feat.[5][6] With his run to the final, Dimitrov returned to the top 10 of theATP rankings for the first time since October 2018.[7][8]
Coleman Wong became the first player from Hong Kong to qualify for the main draw of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.[9][10]
For only the second time in tournament history (after2016) there were no Americans in the fourth round.[11] It was also the first time at the tournament since2009 that the top four men's singles seeds all reached the quarterfinals.[12]
