On 21 March 2024,IS–K carried out asuicide bombing on aNew Kabul Bank branch inKandahar,Afghanistan around 8:00AFT (03:30GMT) killing at least 21 and injuring at least 51,[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] targeting Taliban workers who were collecting their wages.[11][12][13][14][15]
Hospital staff stated that the dead included several members of the Taliban.[7]
The suicide bomber was identified by the pro-Taliban al-Mirsad website as Asadbek Madiyarov, a citizen ofUzbekistan.[16][17][18]
Iran andPakistan both condemned the attack.[19][20]
