7 February: A court inMinsk sentences Polish-Belarusian activistAndrzej Poczobut to eight years in prison for his criticism of president Alexander Lukashenko.^[1]
26 February:Belarusian opposition partisans launched a drone attack on Russian aircraft at theMachulishchy air base.^[2]
3 March: A court inMinsk, sentenceshuman rights activist and 2022Nobel Peace laureateAles Bialiatski to 10 years in prison over "financing actions violating public order" andsmuggling.^[3]
6 March: A court in Belarussentences five opposition politicians after atrial in absentia.Pavel Latushka was sentenced to 18 years,Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to 15 years, and Maryya Maroz,Volha Kavalkova and Siarhei Dylevski to 12 years.^[4]
9 March: President Alexander Lukashenko signs a bill into law which allows the use of thedeath penalty on officials and military servicemen convicted ofhigh treason.^[5]
25 March:Russian President Vladimir Putin announces thatRussia will stationtactical nuclear weapons inBelarus by July. The nuclear missiles will be operated byRussian forces. It will be the first time that Russian nuclear weapons have been deployed abroad since 1996.^[6]^[7]

14 September: TheEuropean Parliament issues a resolution calling on theInternational Criminal Court to consider charges againstBelarusian president Alexander Lukashenko forcrimes against humanity allegedly committed in his role inchild abductions during theRussian invasion of Ukraine.
15 September:President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposes a three-way alliance between Belarus, Russia andNorth Korea during a meeting withPresident of Russia Vladimir Putin.^[11]
19 September: The trial of formerSOBR officer Yury Harauski begins inSt. Gallen, Switzerland over theenforced disappearances ofViktar Hanchar,Yury Zacharanka, andAnatol Krasoŭski [be]. Harauski pleads guilty and claims thatDmitri Pavlichenko executed the three pro-democracy activists.^[12]
31 October: An explosion occurs at a military base near theagrotown ofKalodziščy in central Belarus. TheMinistry of Defence claims that the explosion was deliberately orchestrated.^[13]
