The2023–24 EFL Cup was the 64th season of theEFL Cup (known as theCarabao Cup for sponsorship reasons). The competition was open to all clubs participating in thePremier League and theEnglish Football League.

The winner of the competition qualified for the play-off round of the2024–25 UEFA Conference League.[1] However, as championsLiverpool qualified for theUEFA Champions League that season, the spot for theConference League play-offs was passed down to runners-upChelsea, who finished 6th in the2023–24 Premier League and had not qualified for any UEFA competition beforehand.

Manchester United were the defending champions, but were eliminated byNewcastle United, whom they had beaten in theprevious season's final, in the fourth round.

Thefinal was played atWembley Stadium on 25 February 2024 betweenLiverpool andChelsea. Liverpool secured a record-extendingtenth title following a 1–0 win afterextra time, courtesy of club captainVirgil van Dijk's late header.[2]
