On 16 August 2022, theTurkish Air Force targeted aSyrian Arab Armymilitary base near the town ofKobanî, killing at least 38 Syrian government soldiers. The airstrikes were allegedly launched in response to the killing of aTurkish Army soldier in the town ofKarkamış by theSyrian Democratic Forces earlier in the day.[3][1]
