Iga Świątek defeatedMaria Sakkari in the final, 6–4, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters.[ 1] She was the first Pole to win the title.
Paula Badosa was the defending champion,[ 2] but lost to Sakkari in the semifinals.[ 3]
The international governing bodies of tennis (WTA ,ATP ,ITF ,Australian Open ,French Open ,Wimbledon ,US Open ) allowed players fromRussia andBelarus to continue to participate in tennis events ontour and at themajors , but not under the name or flag of Russia or Belarus until further notice, due to the2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine .[ 4]
