The2022–23 Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team representedVanderbilt University during the2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by fourth-year head coachJerry Stackhouse, and played their home games atMemorial Gymnasium inNashville, Tennessee as a member of theSoutheastern Conference. They finished the season 18–13, 11–7 in SEC Play, in a three-way tie for 4th place. They defeatedLSU andKentucky to advance to the semifinals of theSEC tournament, where they were defeated byTexas A&M. They received an at-large bid to theNational Invitation Tournament where they defeatedYale andMichigan to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost toUAB.
TheCommodores finished the2021–22 season 19–16, 7–11 inSEC Play to finish in 11th place. They defeatedGeorgia andAlabama to advance to the quarterfinals of theSEC tournament where they lost toKentucky. They received an at-large bid to theNational Invitation Tournament where they defeatedBelmont andDayton before losing toXavier in the quarterfinals.
