The2018 Vermont House of Representatives elections took place as part of thebiennial United States elections .Vermont voters elected state representatives in all 150 seats. State representatives serve two-year terms in theVermont House of Representatives . A primary election on August 14, 2018, determined which candidates appeared on the November 6general election ballot .
Following the 2016 StateHouse elections,Democrats maintained effective control of the House with a 97 member caucus (83Democrats , sevenIndependents , and sevenProgressives ). Before the election, to take control of the chamber fromDemocrats , theRepublicans would have needed to net 23 State House seats. However, instead the Democrats instead gained 12 seats, increasing their majorities.
